Prinivil Uses
Prinivil is in a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Prinivil is used to lower blood pressure, to treat congestive heart failure, and to improve the survival rate after a heart attack.
How To Use Prinivil
Take Prinivil exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you.
Prinivil Side Effects
This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives), difficulty breathing, little or no urine, an irregular heartbeat or changes in your heartbeat, chest pain, severe dizziness or fainting, or signs of an infection including a sore throat or a fever. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Prinivil and talk to your doctor if you experience mild dizziness or lightheadedness, headache, unusual fatigue or weakness, dry, tickling cough, muscle cramps, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, arms, or legs, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, a rash, or impotence.
Prinivil Precautions
Tell you doctor if you have kidney disease, are on a salt-restricted diet or have high levels of potassium in your blood, are taking salt substitutes, potassium supplements (e.g., K-Dur, Klor-Con), or potassium-sparing diuretics such as amiloride (Midamor), triamterene (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide), or spironolactone (Aldactone), or have diabetes. Prinivil should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Prinivil. The interaction could lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without first talking to your doctor.Use caution when you stand or sit up from a lying position, especially if you wake up during the night. You may become dizzy when changing positions. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may further lower blood pressure and increase drowsiness or dizziness while taking Prinivil. a potassium supplement such as K-Dur, Klor-Con, and others, salt substitutes that contain potassium, any of the diuretics (water pills) triamterene (Dyrenium, Maxzide, Dyazide), spironolactone (Aldactone), or amiloride (Midamor), any other diuretic (water pill) such as hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, HydroDiuril, others), furosemide (Lasix), bumetanide (Bumex), indapamide (Lozol), and others, lithium (Lithobid, Eskalith, others), or indomethacin (Indocin).
Prinivil Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : another heart medication to treat the same or another condition, erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Era potassium supplement such as K-Dur, Klor-Con, and others, salt substitutes that contain potassium, any of the diuretics (water pills) triamterene (Dyrenium, Maxzide, Dyazide), spironolactone (Aldactone), or amiloride (Midamor), any other diuretic (water pill) such as hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, HydroDiuril, others), furosemide (Lasix), bumetanide (Bumex), indapamide (Lozol), and others, lithium (Lithobid, Eskalith, others), or indomethacin (Indocin). Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Prinivil. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
Prinivil Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include extreme dizziness, weakness, fainting, and fatigue

Do not share Prinivil with others.
Prinivil Missed Dose
If you miss an Prinivil dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Store Prinivil at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
