Prilosec Uses
?Priolsec decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Priolsec is used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD or heartburn), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production.
How To Use Prilosec
Take Prilosec exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Priolsec is usually taken before a meal. Do not crush, chew, or break the over-the-counter Priolsec tablets (Prilosec OTC). Swallow them whole. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you.
Prilosec Side Effects
This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Prilosec and talk to your doctor if you experience diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal pain, dizziness, or headache.
Prilosec Precautions
Tell you doctor if you have trouble or pain with swallowing, vomiting blood, bloody or black stools, had heartburn for over 3 months, heartburn with sweating, lightheadedness, dizziness, chest, shoulder, neck, jaw, or arm pain, frequent chest pain, heartburn with wheezing, unexplained weight loss, nausea or vomiting, or stomach pain. Prilosec should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Prilosec may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities.
Prilosec Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), stop taking Priolsec and seek emergency medical attention. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Priolsec and talk to your doctor if you experience drowsiness, dizziness, or headache, diarrhea, increased gas, or bloating, or itching. Drugs other then those listed above may also interact with Prilosec.

Prilosec Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of a Prilosec overdose may include drowsiness, seizures, shortness of breath, and decreased body temperature.
Prilosec Notes
Do not share Prilosec with others.
Prilosec Missed Dose
If you miss an Prilosec dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Prilosec Storage
Store Prilosec at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
