Lamictal Uses
Lamictal affects chemicals in the brain involved in seizures and in bipolar disorder. Lamictal is used alone or in combination with other medications in the treatment of seizures. Lamictal is also used in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
How to Use Lamictal
Take Lamictal exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It can be taken wilth or without food . Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you.
Lamictal Side Effects
This drug may cause following serious side effects : skin rash, fever, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, sores in the mouth or around the eyes, or swollen lymph glands. Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Lamictal and talk to your doctor if you experience dizziness or drowsiness, blurred or double vision, nausea and vomiting, headache, or lack of coordination. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual.
Lamictal Precautions
Tell your doctor your medical history, including:heart, liver, or kidney disease . It Should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Do not start or stop using birth control pills or other female hormonal products until you have consulted your doctor. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you experience changes in your menstrual pattern (e.g., break-through bleeding) while taking Lamictal and birth control pills or other female hormonal products. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Lamictal may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Dizziness may be more likely to occur when you rise from a sitting or lying position. Rise slowly to prevent dizziness and a possible fall. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Lamictal.
Lamictal Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : Drugs used to treat seizures. Birth control pills may decrease the amount of Lamictal in the body. A dosage adjustment may be necessary if birth control pills are started or stopped during treatment with Lamictal. Lamictal may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants. Dangerous sedation, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur if Lamictal is taken with any of these medications. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Lamictal.

Lamictal Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, drowsiness, headache, increased seizures, and unconsciousness.
Lamictal Notes
Do not share Lamictal with others.
Lamictal Missed Dose
If you miss an Lamictal dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Lamictal Storage
Store Lamictal at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
